Antarctica
In February 2010, we flew via Madrid and Buenos Aires to the port of Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego. There we joined the Fram (the ship on which we visited Greenland) for a voyage along the Antarctic Peninsula, across the polar circle, as far as Stonington Island in Marguerite Bay. We enjoyed wonderful summer weather, which meant that all but one of the planned landings took place (one shore trip prevented by an iceberg!) and even managed some extra ones.
We realise that it is a privilege to visit this utterly beautiful, harsh and fragile place and to encounter some of the residents, and we carefully heeded the requirement to leave nothing but our footprints and take nothing away but memories.
These images are a small selection from a most memorable journey.
